In the past few months we’ve been diving into Bye Bye Bi — a research pilot that lays the groundwork for our new performance So Many Hills To Die On (premiering early 2027). We invite you to be our test audience for this 15 minute VR performance.
The project explores the potential of dance in virtual reality questioning the social construction of gender and sexuality. Between physical and digital worlds, we ask: what influenced our experience growing up being queer?
Created by Marijke de Vos (choreographer), Pleun Gremmen (digital scenography) and Annique Nahumury/Terror Kittens (costume design) with the support of Nathan Marcus (creative technologist), Daan Gijzen and Niels Weber (Multiplayer Tool Development), Laura Nygren (music composition) and Bianca Casaburi (dance). With special thanks to Thibaud Delpeut & Samiha Awad.
Bye Bye Bi was made possible with the financial support of Cultuurloket: DigitALL, Elise Mathilde fonds, Fonds ter bevordering van Volkskracht.
Through a haunting of our past teenage selves and a schoolyard confrontation, we strive to face the realities of bi-erasure and bi-phobia.
Bye Bye Bi is a co-production between Teddy shouldn’t smoke and Innovation:Lab.
